About Dr. Nadia-Ramona Todoran
I am a Lifestyle Medicine specialist (Fellow of Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine) and my mission is to educate people to change their health habits so they can live a disease free and knowledge empowered life.
I help clients to achieve better health and wellness by educating and coaching them how to create the successful behaviour change that is required.
Since graduating as a Registered Nurse I have completed post graduate courses in Lifestyle Medicine, Nutrigenomics, Health Behaviour Change, Genetics and Health Coaching. I am currently completing my Doctorate in Integrative Medicine.
I have personally been on a journey in search of better physical, mental, and spiritual health since diagnosed with hypertension fifteen years ago. Also, having witnessed the devastating effects of cancer on those I loved and dealing with the loss of many loved ones, I became increasingly motivated to help others regain their sense of control and ownership of their lives. After my life changing experiences, I started seeking a scientific, evidence-based holistic approach to health and found that Lifestyle Medicine had the approach to health that I was seeking. I jumped on the opportunity to become a Lifestyle Medicine Specialist (LMS) and a Health Coach. I believe that this extra support in healthcare is the missing piece that can support clients on their journey to optimal health and wellness, by simply educating and empowering them to make lasting lifestyle changes. It is my belief that evidence-based lifestyle medicine expertise combined with effective health coaching can help clients get to the root cause of their disease to find real healing and start thriving.
I have been asked many times what exactly Lifestyle Medicine is and what makes it so effective and unique when compared with general medicine practice.
After working with patients/clients for more than 20 years, I have found there are 3 main issues that need to be addressed with every patient/client, to achieve the desired health outcomes:
1. ROOT-CAUSE(S) - addressing the cause and not just fixing symptoms.
2. HEALTH OUTCOMES - coaching to achieve sustainable, repeatable results.
3. HABIT CHANGE - educating and empowering patients/clients compliance instead of procrastination.
Clients come to me believing that they live in a healthy way. In fact, one of the first things that I hear when I meet a new client is, “I have a pretty healthy lifestyle”. What I have found is that many people do not know what that means for them.
Most people are confused about what a truly healthy lifestyle is and they do not make the connection between what occurs in their body (weight gain, early aging, inflammation, headaches, low energy, and so on), and their lifestyle and health habits. Or they take false comfort in making one habit change, like eating oatmeal, or drinking organic milk, and they believe that it compensates for eating what they want for the rest of the day, even if it is junk food.
I believe that your LIFESTYLE matters; it is YOUR MEDICINE, THE BEST MEDICINE YOU HAVE GOT. It is your life line, the secret to living the rest of your life in a beautiful, energized, healthful way.
I believe in the life changing power of my work, and the importance for all of us to become more aware of our LIFESTYLE, our HEALTH and learning together how to manage our bodies and our lives.
I have an overwhelming passion to help, inspire, research and do everything possible to assist in providing a better, healthier life for those that need it, and particularly for those people that have been told that there is nothing they can do about their debilitating symptoms. I feel honoured to encourage my clients to believe that they can live their best life possible, and to continue creating the best version of themselves.
I am deeply committed to ongoing professional education and development at the highest level to ensure continuing, outstanding patient care. I regularly attend and participate in conferences, keeping up to date with the latest research to support and enhance client care.
I treat each person as an individual, drawing on my extensive clinical background both in Australia and overseas using comprehensive healthy lifestyle education, lifestyle modification interventions, health coaching for health behaviour change, genetic profiling, nutrigenomics interventions, and functional supplementation.
I enjoy working closely with both medical practitioners and allied and complementary practitioners, outside Lifestyle Medicine Clinic to bring about the best healing outcomes for my clients.
